Admission Requirements in Los Angeles

Admission to all programs at Marian College, Marian Health Careers Center is open to all applicants who meet the entrance requirements regardless of age, sex, religion, and ethnic background.

Admission Policy

To qualify for admission, an applicant must, as determined by the entrance examination results and personal interview:

  • speak, read, and comprehend the English language;
  • communicate effectively;
  • utilize intellectual abilities, exercise good judgment and complete tasks within required time limits;
  • show integrity, concern and respect for others, interpersonal skills, interest and motivation;
  • be 17 years of age or older;
  • have a minimum of either a U.S. High School Diploma from an accredited school, or its evaluated foreign equivalent; or have passed any of the following equivalents: General Educational Development Certificate (GED®), High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) and the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC);
  • pass the Entrance Examination and Personal Interview requirement.

Application Process

1. Meet with the Admissions Representative and complete an Enrollment Application.

2. Take the Entrance Examination Series: Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE); Math Questionnaire; Essay. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.

3. Tour the campus.

4. Pass the Entrance Examination Series with at least 18 points in the SLE, 5 points in Math, and 10 points in Essay, or if unable to obtain pass scores in all or part of the Entrance Examination Series:
    a. Schedule a retest no less than one week from the initial test date.
    b. Schedule a second retest no less than six months from the last failed test.
    c. Any further subsequent retests may be taken one year from the last failed test.

5. Schedule an interview after passing the Entrance Examination Series.

6. An applicant who has passed the Entrance Examination Series and Personal Interview, has one year to begin enrollment. Otherwise, a current Entrance Examination Series and Personal Interview will be required.
